The Rainbow Warriors

Michael Gray runs for a score back in 1996, when Hawaii was still the Rainbows.

Fresno State has always had great success at Bulldog Stadium against the team formally known as the Rainbow Warriors, losing only once. Even the 1996 4-7 team, arguably the worst in Bulldog Stadium history was able to beat the 'Bows.

Hawaii officially changed its nickname in 1999 to just Warriors, minus the Rainbow. The University felt that the name Rainbows was too closely related to the symbol of Homosexuality. Since the name change Fresno State has was only won twice, both in Fresno. While Hawaii has won four, including three in a row from 2001-03.

The Bulldogs just suck on the Island, and that trend has to change this weekend if the Bulldogs have any hopes of winning an outright WAC title and finishing the season ranked in the top 25.

This year's team is unlike any other Bulldog team to play at Aloha Stadium. It is better than the 2001 David Carr led team that lost 38-34 to Hawaii, and better than the 1993 Trent Dilfer led team that lost in the Aloha Bowl to Colorado, 41-30.
