'Dogs, Ducks Does It Get Any Better?

The Fresno State-Oregon series has become a heated battle, but until the 'Dogs beat the Ducks this decade, it is not a rivalry.

Fresno State has not won since 1982, 10-4 in Eugene. Since, Oregon was won four straight, 30-27(ot) in 1996, 43-40(ot) in 1997, 28-24 in 2002, and 37-34 last year. All the games, except for the 1996 game, have been at Autzen Stadium.

Unlike the 1996 game, Bulldog Stadium will be loud and full in 2006. And this year's team is actually good and matches up well with Oregon. I am expecting a close game, and the team that can run the ball effectively and commit the least amount of mistakes will win the game.

Jonathan Stewart is expected to practice Wednesday -- after missing Monday and Tuesday with his sprained ankle -- and should share time with backup Jeremiah Johnson. Johnson is not as powerful, but is faster and a better receiver out of the backfield. The run game will be the key, and Oregon could put anyone at tailback and gain yards with their great offensive line.

Is Jason Shirley healthy for this game? He is the key for plugging the middle. The LBs need to use their speed to contain the outside.

Shirley is fine, Hill rested the entire first team DL a majority of the 3rd quarter.

But Hill will play a lot of the quicker DL to oppose the spread, don't be surprised to see Monga, Tolbert and Ike get a lot of time.
