WTF Coach?

Are you staying or are you going? First you refute all the rumors about going to the NFL, and now you are just starting to interview for NFL head coaching vacancies. What the hell is going on? You are the right man for the job in Fresno, but if your intentions are to leave for "greener" pastures then best of luck to you and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. You have done wonders for the football program, but Fresno State deserves better treatment. Not to mention the recruits that are falling by the wayside debating about their future college choice.

Is Hill staying or going? This is a debate that shouldn't have to take place. Is it a media ploy? Is it leverage against Athletic Director Thomas Boeh and President John Welty to get improvements to the stadium and increase the assistant coaches salaries? What ever it is, it is not good for the University. Hill has every right to look for a better position, but he still has a commitment to the Bulldogs to find a new offensive coordinator and continue with recruiting. If Hill would just come out and say that if he gets the right opportunity he will leave, instead of just beating around the bush. Garrett McIntyre was quoted by Channel 47 news the other night, saying he was told by Hill in the past that the only way he would leave Fresno State was if he was fired.

Who really knows what Hill's agenda is? No one has been able to figure out his gameday coaching in nine years, so it is fitting that his departure from Fresno State could be equally as confusing.

Welcome to the world of pro sports. In Hill's defense he stated in the past that if something came along that was better, he would take it. He has also gone on to say that he wouldn't actively look for an opportunity. I truly believe all of these opportunities have fallen on his lap. He has responded by showing some interest. Who can blame a guy for that? I don't think that Hill has asked for all of this publicity either, for obvious reasons but when it comes to pro sports, it's hard to keep a secret. I'm sure Hill would rather things be kept under a tight lid, but lets be realistic here . . . It's not going to happen! If he leaves I wish him well. If he stays, we can all thank our lucky stars!

I think the media, the fans, and me (for a while) are/were laying blame in the wrong place. Hill has to do what's best for his family, understood. Hill has to do what's best for Fresno State as well though according to his current contract, understood. I feel Boeh or Welty are more at fault here then anyone else because they are sitting on their hands (as far as i can see) when they should be hosting interviews as a safety net for either outcome. just my 2cents.

I don't believe the University can conduct formal interviews until the position is vacant per state law.
